Hey! I'm Katie. I've recently graduated from the University of Oxford, achieving a First Class degree in Law. I did the IB at a school in the UK and got a 45. Before that, I was living in China, where I did my iGCSEs and got 11A* and 1A.
I think of primary importance is tailoring the tutorial to the needs of each individual student, therefore my sessions are based around detailed discussion with each student about exactly what they want the achieve through the sessions. In order to boost the efficacy of the sessions, I will often supplement the hour-long session with extra work to be completed and returned between the tutorials so that it can be discussed thereafter, or reading for the student to do which we will thereafter discuss. The format of the tutorials themselves is fairly discursive, in the sense that the student will be answering/asking questions often so as not to remain passive throughout, as one might in a class with a larger group of students. But most importantly, I like to ensure my sessions are FUN!
I have a lot of experience tutoring students. This has been in part with a view to preparing students of Oxbridge applications. For law applications, this has ranged from helping students with their personal statements, to LNAT preparation, to interview help. I also have experience tutoring students for the IB. I have tutored students for HL English, Biology and History. This has been both sessions preparing students for their final exams and also helping students with coursework. I also have experience tutoring in SL Maths and Maths Studies, in addition to tutoring for iGCSE exams.
When I'm not reading law books, I like to debate (or the legal-alternative that is "mooting"), cook (I make a mean chocolate cake) and read non-law books (I'm a big fan of John le Carré).
